Leadership Development

WNIT Economic Outlook - October 2014

Leadership may be the single most critical factor in the determination of success or failure of an organization. On the “Building Powerful Teams” website, it states that 3 out of every 4 employees say that the worst part of their job is their boss. Over 30,000 managers were interviewed and the Top five flaws listed were: Fails to inspire… Lacks Clear Vision.. Accepts mediocrity….Unable to collaborate or be a team player… Fails to walk the talk… Clearly the success or perhaps the failure of any organization can be attributed to leadership or lack thereof.

Problems arise when employees do not have well-defined roles and when the company they work for has no clear goals. The situation is compounded by the changing demographic of the workplace, with baby boomers retiring and being replaced by younger workers who harbor different attitudes toward work and careers in general, and by the faster pace at which business moves, Moore said.
